Living in Wisconsin pretty much ensures that there will still be cold weather at the start of the semester. For Fashionistas and Fashionistos, winter can really hurt our wardrobes. If it’s cold out, how are you supposed to dress stylish and still be warm?
On a cold and early walk to class, I spotted a Fashionista who clearly wanted to stay warm and stylish in this cold weather. She was wearing a longer black coat, but it wasn’t your average North Face or Columbia jacket. It was a longer black peacoat, which added just enough detail to make her stand out from everyone else, all while helping her stay warm. It might not have been showing, but I bet she had on a nice, warm sweater underneath. A big scarf was paired with the jacket to add an extra layer of warmth. A great pair of jeans completed the look and kept it casual. If it’s really cold, I’ll even throw on a pair of leggings underneath my jeans. Casual is the way to go during the below freezing temperatures and this Fashionista’s outfit proves just that.
Besides awesome scarves, accessories are not as important during the winter. Boots, however, are a must because they really do keep your feet warmer. I particularly liked this Fashionista’s brown combat style boots. She even took up one of my favorite trends during these winter months—boot socks. I love wearing a warm pair of socks in a different color or print than my boots so they show at the top. Plus, they really do keep your feet warm! As always, a bag is a necessity. This large messenger bag is perfect for carrying books around campus and is so much more stylish than a simple backpack.
It can be hard to keep up your style when the weather wants you to wear nothing but sweats. Fortunately, it’s easy to avoid this. Just wear a warm and chic scarf. Add a pair of boots and you’ll be set to survive winter in style!
One Simple Change: You can easily make this outfit work for an internship as well. Just swap out the jeans for a pencil skirt and some tights to seem more professional, but still just as stylish and warm!
