A new semester has begun! Students are welcomed back to campus with a layer of snow on the ground and freezing temperatures for the long walks to class. The term “spring semester” doesn’t really seem to fit the current weather situation. The days of blooming flowers, birds chirping and sunshine may seem far away, but we can borrow a classic staple from your spring wardrobe to add a bit of that cheery springtime flavor.
Due to the fact that they are not very thick, trench coats are typically worn in warmer seasons, such as spring or fall. However, if one layers wisely, trench coats can be a great option to wear on the more mild winter mornings, especially when you’re getting tired of wearing that puffy coat every day. To stay warm, all you need to do is throw on a cozy sweater underneath the trench and add all of your other basic winter accessories.
This Fashionista flawlessly combines the trench coat, a typical springtime essential, with other winter basics. The coat itself is a classic beige color and extends to a little above the knee. Though it can be belted, she leaves it open to reveal her mint colored, GAPÂ sweater. The lighter colors on top are balanced out with her dark wash skinny jeans, and her toes are kept toasty and stylish in a pair of navy Sorel snow boots.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to mix it up once in awhile and cross-over basic pieces from other seasonal wardrobes! Sometimes all it takes is a change of accessories to make it work.”
