STYLE GURU STYLE: Make A Statement

Saint Laurent’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear runway show was absolutely stunning. Hedi Slimane, the creative director for Saint Laurent, did an impeccable job of creating a cool girl vibe about his looks. The clothing in which the girls graced the runway would make anyone turn their heads and become a little (okay, maybe a lot) envious—I mean of course, it’s Saint Laurent. The spirit of the collection was that of a star. From leather capes to glittery dresses, the whole collection flowed together seamlessly. One piece could easily look just as flawless paired with another piece from a different look. For me, Slimane could do no wrong with this collection. It’s the perfect combination of glam and punk rock.

The Saint Laurent show inspired me to let my inner cool rock chick out. I used the black leather and glittery details of the collection to help guide me when styling my outfit. I started off with my leather jacket. PSA: A good leather jacket can change your life. I can’t even begin to say how many times I have worn mine since I got it last month. I paired the leather jacket with a simple black T-shirt to go along with the monochromatic feel of Saint Laurent. I then added some bling. Okay, maybe a lot of bling and somewhat of a neck workout. My statement necklace adds that perfect touch of glam meets punk rock that look 28 of the Saint Laurent collection portrays. For the bottom half, I decided to make my ensemble a little more casual. I wore a pair of high-waisted distressed jeans along with a pair of green and black booties. Although these items were not in the looks of Saint Laurent, it’s completely okay. Sometimes we can take bits and pieces from runway looks to form an ensemble that works for our style.

Saint Laurent’s collection is the epitome of effortless and edgy, all while staying classic. I strived to put those vibes into my ensemble with a casual twist.

Get My Look: 1. A leather jacket. 2. A statement necklace. 3. A pair of distressed jeans.
