Well, it finally reached below 80 degrees here in the Sunshine State! I felt obligated to bring out my biggest coat and most fashionable boots. There is no doubt about it: fur has made a covert return right back to the heart of the fashion world from runways in Milan to streets of New York. With the help of the majority of designers, I have kindled a love for fur and have acquired a range of items incorporating it. From scarves to accents in hats to full fur coats, my closet is now full of warm, fuzzy, snuggling items (and no, I am not talking about my cat). So after doing research on this season’s muse, I came across Elie Saab’s pre-fall 2015 collection and realized that fur is not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, much of the inspiration from my outfit came from Saab’s collection and his choice of classic looks mixed with fur accents.
Elie Saab’s pre-fall 2015 collection is a classic daydream consisting of full floral ball gowns, beaded A-line dresses and fur—lots of fur. He took a different route than most designers with their mid-season collections by creating unique pieces rather than sticking to the usual looks. Honestly, I don’t think he is upsetting anyone, except maybe competing designers.
Elie Saab inspired me to go bold and not be afraid of the fur, so I went with this duffle coat with a faux fur hood from Zara. I paired it with all-black (basically, because that’s all I own). Saab’s collection taught me a valuable lesson: pair anything, like anything, with fur and it becomes fabulous.
