Alexander Wang’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear show in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard inspired this look and, honestly, it is a look I frequent often. It is one that is inspired by utilitarian work wear as well as that hipster lumberjack look. I love the outdoors life, and I feel that this style suits that passion of mine quite well. The nice part about outfits like this are that I can actually do a lot of exploring in the great outdoors wearing this garb.
I translated this style into my favorite daily look. I throw on my comfiest flannel over one of my favorite comfy graphic tanks or T-shirts. Beanies have been the greatest thing since sliced bread this season; therefore, that is a must-have in this everyday look. Put on some black leggings, combat boots and your favorite simple jewelry and you are good to go. The key to this look is layering. You can always add more or less depending on the weather. This makes the outfit quite versatile throughout most seasons. Along with the comfort factor, this is just another reason this outfit and style is just so rad. Depending on your mood, you can make this look more feminine or masculine by adding jewelry and other accessories. That being said, because this look can be so androgynous, it is one that your guy friends can sport as well!
This runway trend has been around for a bit in the what you might call “hipster community,” but it is still picking up popularity. Even in the Midwest, I can make myself feel as though I’m living in the Pacific Northwest with this look!
