Here in Illinois, the weather is still bitter cold and the ground is kissed with snow, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting excited for spring fashion. The runway show from Marc by Marc Jacobs was incredible. The show had everything from formal wear to street style fashion, and did a unique job at incorporating both styles into one look. What really stood out to me was the use of colors in the looks. I loved the way the show did not fixate on one specific color scheme; it displayed a collection of monochromatic outfits along with vibrant colored ones and added a couple of different patterned prints to keep things fun. I quickly became obsessed with this and was soon inspired to try it out myself.
For this outfit, I chose to emulate one of my favorite looks from the show. I put the look together by pairing a patterned button-down blouse with a retro-inspired peacoat. With the cold still upon us, this sunflower yellow jacket is the perfect transition piece into spring. It allows me to stay warm while dipping my toes into spring fashion. What really sold me about this look was the bell-sleeved coat. I find that it created the perfect feminine shape. By having medium length sleeves, it left room for accessorizing if needed. To make sure the patterned button-down remained visible, I chose to keep the coat half open. It allowed for the perfect amount to be shown without adding too much noise.
This spring 2015 show gave me so many inspirational ideas for my wardrobe. It was the perfect mix of class and spunk. It also helped me open my eyes about ways I can incorporate a spring look into winter conditions.
