Well Fashionista/os, winter is in full swing whether we’re ready or not. With over a foot of snow on the ground, chances are your will to look presentable has been buried along with your car.
Creating the perfect outfit for this weather is rough. It can totally feel like the You Pick Two debacle at Panera Bread. If you’re as indecisive as I am, it’s nearly impossible to pick two things and end up feeling satisfied. Winter clothes are often looked at in the same way. There’s a misconception that you can either be comfy and warm or put-together and comfy, but definitely not all three. This Fashionista effortlessly puts that myth to bed for good.
Oversized sweater on top and leggings on the bottom? Doesn’t get more comfortable than that. This sweater is prime for holding in that precious heat in temperatures that feel too cold to sustain human life.
Underneath her sweater is a simple denim shirt. Every girl needs at least one of these in her closet. Not only do they go with everything, they go under everything, serving as an easy and practical way to mix up your wardrobe. Over the top is another one of my favorite basics, a quilted vest. This Fashionista snagged hers from from the god of all things vest, J.Crew.
To top off her layered look, a few accessories were thrown into the mix. Aside from her killer earrings and simple rings, let’s talk about that infinity scarf! I love that she didn’t take the time to contort and wrap it around her neck. Leaving it undone creates a slouchy chic look while keeping you cozy at the same time. Last but not least is the essential tote. When dressing for the snow, it’s a good idea to have a place to ditch a few of your layers once you get inside.
So there you have it. It is possible to survive the winter while being comfy, warm and looking put together. You can have it all; just find your favorite oversized sweater and go from there!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When your campus is filled with snow, it’s hard to get creative, especially if your outfit is hidden by coats, sweatshirts and winter boots. Avoid this by utilizing both lighter and heavier pieces of clothing for layering. Maybe try a lightweight jean shirt with a sweater. Layers are your friend!”
