Winter is the prime time to layer. It is one of the main reasons I look forward to winter. Cardigans, scarves, chunky knits and so on; the possibilities and combinations are endless. When I say layering, cardigans and chunky knits are probably what come to mind. However, there are so many interesting ways you can take different pieces from different seasons and layer them to create a whole new look!
When I spotted this Fashionista, I was immediately impressed with how she mixed summer and winter pieces to create her own unique look. The ensemble is a great example that shows how your summer closet can seamlessly transition into winter so that you don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe. Taking a simple black turtleneck from American Eagle Outfitters, she layered a sheer black beaded top from Abercrombie & Fitch over it. While this Fashionista says she usually wears the sheer top over a simple black tank on a warm spring or summer day, she loves it so much she needed to find a way to incorporate it into the winter season.
To add color, she opted to wear a vintage gold and teal bead necklace. Between the necklace and the beading on the top, the look gives me a feeling reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. I was also obsessing over her quilted black boots. The quilting, as well as the gold hardware, adds a nice touch compared to the basic black riding boot. Fortunately, this look is very versatile. I would easily wear this to anything from class to meetings to dinner with my friends!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Experiment with layers in all seasons, but especially in the winter. Don’t be afraid to layer things you may think will look completely ridiculous; those are usually some of the best outfits!”
