As many lucky students are counting down the weeks to a warm and sunny spring break, those of us on the East Coast who aren’t as fortunate are still wondering how to make this winter a little more bearable. Inspired by Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, Fashionistas/os everywhere are looking to make a statement on campus, even in the cold weather.
Runway shows such as BCBGMAXAZRIA‘s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection showed those of us living in the cold northeast how to make layers look fashionable. The looks in the collection were laid back with very distinctive embellishments such as patchwork, leather accents and uniquely placed zippers. This Fashionista looked to the runway to nail her chic winter look. Her camel colored coat is structured and features a leather tie belt that accentuates her waist. The leather and fur details take a simple wool coat to a “higher fashion” look. She ties together elements of the jacket through her leather bag with zipper details and tall black leather boots. To top off the look, she adds a pop of her personality with a large rhinestone statement ring.
This winter, look for jackets that are both functional and fashionable. A wool jacket with faux leather, zipper and fur details similar to this Fashionista’s is sure to be a showstopper on campus. You can also find one with more texture or one in a bold color such as deep winter red!
