ALL IN THE DETAILS: Leather Contrast

Leather is huge this season. From leather boots to jeans to jackets, it’s all the rage. Personally, I’m loving this new trend. Leather is super versatile. It can be styled to look tough and grungy, or softened up to give a slightly edgy look to an otherwise girly ensemble. Leather basically looks great with all other fabrics, textures and prints—it contrasts really well.

Today’s Fashionista was sporting an army green jacket that had leather sleeves. I thought this was a great look because it allowed her to incorporate the edginess of leather without having to go all out. A lot of people aren’t so into wearing a full leather jacket or leather jeans, but love the idea of wearing a little bit of leather. Leather patches and contrasting are actually really common. You can find leather patchwork jeans or tops with leather sleeves and pockets in all your favorite stores. In this Fashionista’s case, the black leather complemented the green body of her jacket. Her leather sleeves were definitely head-turners.

Aside from her leather jacket, today’s Fashionista wore a pair of body-hugging denim to show off her curves. Since her jacket wasn’t very formfitting, her skinny jeans did a great job of evening out her look. She also wore a pair of heeled booties to give her ensemble a more feminine look. On her wrists she donned an assortment of charm bracelets and a gold watch. Her printed red scarf stood out against the dark green of her jacket and added a splash of color.

Overall this Fashionista had a very modern and sleek look. Her edgy jacket paired with skinny jeans, heeled booties and a printed scarf created a simple but fashionable look. Her leather jacket could be styled a variety of ways and will be useful in the coming spring season.

How To: Want to try out the leather trend for yourself? Try pairing leather jeans with a floral top or vice versa! Worried about looking too grungy? Follow today’s Fashionista’s lead by incorporating girly accessories into your ensemble like jewelry or headbands.
