Not only has this adorable Fashionista written for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru in the past, but she has also interned at an accessories showroom in NYC, gone on a mission trip to the Honduras, studied and interned in Rome, Italy and currently works at Philly’s Walnut Street location of Free People. Along with her killer plaid cape, she rocks a Free People black velvet print dress and a Free People lace halter bandeau.
Name: Amber Allan
Role: Free People Stylist at Free People’s Walnut Street location
CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite aspect of working at Free People?
Amber Allan: Free People’s environment. From the store walls to the shoppers and coworkers, it seems like there’s always something waiting to inspire me. If I’ve had a bad day, working at Free People makes it better, not worse. There’s just so much beauty in one building, I love it.
CF: What are some of your favorite projects/events you’ve worked on/participated in at Free People?
AA: My all-time favorite event was the Free People Summer Party we held in our store last summer. One of our stylists played live with her band while I got to sit and decorate customers with henna tattoos! I love that I’m continually given the opportunity to be creative in my job.
CF: How has working at Free People impacted your style?
AA: I’ve recently fallen in love with the minimalist look: blacks, whites and all of the shades in-between. Working at Free People reminds me to never lose my boho roots. Although I’ve recently gravitated more towards wearing plain colors, I always add a surprising bohemian twist to my looks, such as touches of turquoise or lacy underlays.
CF: Where do you primarily find your style inspiration?
AA: When I have free time, I love to go searching through thrift stores for a little style inspiration and, of course, for a good find. During the semester, when I don’t have as much free time, I turn to Instagram or online lookbooks.
