STYLE GURU STYLE: Daughters of Anarchy

Right in the midst of New York Fashion Week, I drew much needed inspiration from Belstaff’s fall ready-to-wear line. Traditionally a menswear designer, the line seamlessly integrates their strength in the masculine motif into their women’s collection. It wouldn’t be a Belstaff collection without a biker element; this collection is no exception. Each ensemble demonstrates a masculine silhouette in the form of trousers, jackets and coats. What distinguishes this season’s line from previous is the much softer feminine touches seen in the textures, colors and long flowy dress and skirts.

The translation of the show into everyday wear works with a masculine edge. This look from the show really resonated with my personal style and to my love of sweaters this season. My first instinct when trying to toughen up my look is to wear my black leather jacket. Nothing says biker babe more than a black leather jacket. Move over Danny Zuko! To keep the look sleek, I also added a pair of shiny black pants, think and a neutral statement, perfect for the cold weather. For that feminine touch I added a high slit cream sweater, for an edgy sophisticated look. The beat up utility boots make the outfit wearable and add an additional grungy macho vibe again plying up the menswear aspect.

When it comes to adding manlier pieces to your wardrobe, don’t fret. A simple addition of a black leather jacket to an otherwise feminine ensemble will add interest and edge to your overall look—a surefire way to spice things up.

Get My Look: 1. A leather jacket. 2. A side slit sweater. 3. Some shiny pants.
