Hi there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! February might be over, but Cupid is still spreading all the love he’s got left to shoot. When I first laid my eyes on alice + olivia’s pre-fall 2015 collection, I was immediately struck by the vibrant colors and the amount of life each garment contained. Cupid definitely aimed his arrow towards my direction because I sure fell in love.
For this collection, alice + olivia designer Stacy Bendet was inspired by Loulou de la Falaise, the 1970s fashion icon and muse to Yves Saint Laurent. By the way, if you are in New York City, be sure to check out the Yves Saint Laurent and Halston exhibition at The Museum at FIT. Once you visit, you will be eager to start dressing in bell bottoms and funky prints while dancing to Sister Sledge’s single “We Are Family”.
Even though, I wasn’t sporting ’70s trends, I was inspired by the use of colors, patterns and the way all the looks were styled together in the collection. In this piece, I chose to pair a floral shirt with a flared white skirt and a black fuzzy jacket along with polka-dot stockings. Now I know what you’re thinking. How are you wearing that when it feels as if it’s nine degrees outside? Fortunately, Sunday decided to greet us with sunshine and a bit of warmer weather.
I really enjoyed styling this outfit, I would spend days just admiring the pre-fall collection. In fact, it has inspired me to incorporate more prints and vibrant colors into my wardrobe. Thanks, Stacy Bendet! Now I will never grow tired of playing dress up.
