Choosing what to wear to class can often be difficult for me. I want to wear cute clothes that showcase my style and I also want to be comfortable. Sometimes an outfit is just “too much” for class—I hereby solemnly swear to never wear stiletto heels to class. Luckily, there are many ways to look cute, be comfortable and show off your style while rushing between classroom buildings and taking down notes at lectures.
The temperature in New York City has been all over the place recently, with wind chills of negative temperatures to gorgeous days in the mid 30’s. I was lucky to capture this Fashionista on one of the warmer days as she was walking to class. She takes advantage of the higher temperature to ditch her puffy parka for an army green military jacket. I am so glad to see how long this trend of army green outerwear has lasted for, because these jackets are so versatile. You can wear them with dresses, jeans and skirts. Underneath her jacket, she wears a silk, black and white polka-dot dress with a fit and flare silhouette. Opt for loose or relaxed-fit dresses when wearing dresses to class. This Fashionista wears sheer black tights to keep her warm and black, chunky heeled booties. This Fashionista replaces her backpack with a large hobo bag—a stylish alternative.
What I am most obsessed about is this Fashionista’s raspberry, chunky-knit cardigan. The color contrasts beautifully with the army green and pops out against her black dress, tights and shoes. If your outfit is all cool and dark colors (green, blue, purple, black, blue grays), try bringing in some warm colored accessories to create a fun pop of contrast.
As the weather warms up, I am so excited to see everyone’s fashionable outfits that before were hidden underneath bulky parkas!
One Simple Change: Remove the jacket and the sweater, and you have yourself a simple and chic date night outfit!
