STYLE GURU STYLE: Layers On Layers

With winter still kicking it in the Northeast, warmth is priority to most Fashionistas/os. As much as the true fashion lovers would love to sacrifice their warmth for something a little cuter, it has become time to make do with what we have. With fashion month unfolding, it is sometimes hard to find a way to translate chic runway looks into everyday outfits. I took inspiration from some of the incredible layers found it the latest Ralph Lauren show for this season. Not only does this show feature button-up shirts, knitwear and fur, but it also has some headwear that I tried to copy into my own look!

With temperatures reaching a maximum of 20 degrees on a daily basis, it is no surprise to see me layering my warmest clothing items to create a barrier between me and the torturous wind. With flannel material obviously being known for keeping in body heat, I broke out this classic red button-up. Before taking on the day, I realized a cardigan may be a good call as well, so this tan cardigan was chosen to help warm me up a little. No leggings look is complete without a pair of high boots and these Tommy Hilfiger boots not only look cute, but they sometimes even help prevent the occasion slip on the ice that currently covers the whole campus.

To bring the look all together, I threw on one of my hand knit headwraps to keep my ears a little bit warmer. I also wore my glasses and my knee length army green parka. All of these helped tell the world that I was ready for my day without look too overdressed.

For this winter, I like the idea of pairing fall colors with each other. Experimentation is key in fashion and with a less options as to what will suffice for a day of trekking around campus, mixing and matching separates and layering them for a little extra pizazz never fails.

Get My Look: 1. Knee-high boots. 2. Parka. 3. Flannel.
