STYLE GURU STYLE: Don't Hide The Leather

The fall 2015 ready-to-wear show by Rodarte was very visually appealing. In addition to low necklines and textured skirts, the show featured a lot of leather. The designs showcased leather in all different colors. The leather pants featured in the show were enough to make everyone want to wear leather for the rest of their life. These form-fitting leather pieces went perfectly with the looser pieces in the collection. The collection didn’t shy away from mixing other textures with leather. I fell in love with the designs because it featured very simple pieces with one or two complex pieces that you wouldn’t normally see put together. Wearing colored leather has always been a fear of mine. What kind of top do you wear? What kind of shoes?

I decided to take it one step at a time and wear my black leather pants. I went for a mostly monochromatic feel and I paired my leather pants with a black tank top. I also wore a pair of my favorite black booties. In order to add something a little different, as inspired by the Rodarte show, I added a black and white textured and oversized cardigan. The cardigan not only added some color to my outfit but it made me a lot more comfortable with the shape of my outfit.

The fall 2015 show inspired me to not be afraid of my leather. The result of mixing different textures with leather is a classic yet fun look. It’s an easy look that I hope to keep in mind for my future outfits!
