ALL IN THE DETAILS: Don't Be Afraid to Kimono

The few rays of sunshine in Pittsburgh this week called for Fashionistas all over Pitt’s campus to pull their lighter and spring-appropriate sweaters out from the bottom of their drawers! I love the mixture of colors on this Fashionista’s kimono sweater and how she incorporated the color details of the kimono with her top and necklace worn underneath.

Though the design details of the kimono are small and might be hard to see from far away, the dark purple, blue and red colors create a bold fashion look that can be seen from down the street. Since the kimono is the major statement piece, this Fashionista played it smart and kept the rest of her outfit simple and chic.

The royal purple sweater underneath the sweater blends into a perfect harmony with the dark purple on the kimono. Of course, every Fashionista loves to accessorize. This peach statement necklace combines the lighter colors of the kimono with the light color of the necklace, bringing together the whole top section of this Fashionista’s look.

Again, to make sure the kimono was the focal point of the outfit, the pair of black leggings and over the knee black boots did the perfect job of not attracting too much attention. Overall, this outfit is perfect for those rare days in Pittsburgh when the sun is shining and Fashionistas all over campus need a reminder of warmer weather.

How To: Kimonos are the perfect accessory to add to any simple outfit since most kimonos are full of color. If you have a new black dress, try pulling a colorful kimono over top to create a casual and laid back look!
