Sometimes I find style inspiration from things outside of Pinterest or someone else’s wardrobe. Last week, I was sitting in an art class listening to my teacher talk about achromatic colors. Basic color terms, right? Yes. However, I never really thought about transferring this gray scale color wheel in front of me into my wardrobe. I talk about neutrals all the time, but what about just the black, white and gray shades. I am leaving all other shades behind (minus the tan boots.) Time to get back to color theory basics. Basically, this is what I learned in class last week: all about color (or lack there of.) The Kenzo spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection is a great example of not only the achromatic scale but also oversized tops. I love oversized things a little too much, especially in the winter/early spring months. This collection showcases denim with a lot of the black and white looks.
This style is simple to mimic because you don’t need a particular top or skirt; it is all in the shades. Open up your closet to find every piece that is colored gray, black or white. Play around with what works best, and then add your denim or tan shoes. Just like I threw on the lighter tan boots, (going against the black and white) you can add a little color to your look as well. Also, I’m totally guilty of “smiling for the snow,” but I can’t help it.
