When walking to class I couldn’t help but notice this Fashionista’s chunky knit scarf. The tri-blend yellow and brown colors with its texture were so eye-catching against her black leather jacket and leggings. When complimenting this Fashionista’s scarf, she responded, “My mom made it for me!”. Her reply brought me back to sitting in my grandma’s living room, struggling to master the knitting pattern she had just taught me. Being a Fashion Design major, anything homemade is much more appreciated knowing the time and effort it takes to make quality items by hand. Not only that, but that scarf now has sentimental value being that it was made by her mom, which is a nice reminder of home while away at school.
This Fashionista is wearing a comfy yet edgy everyday look here. She’s wearing tall white socks that are pushed down with her combat boots, which adds interest to her look while also keeping her warm. This Fashionista also took your typical black on black ensemble and added pops of color with her light blue denim button-up and yellow infinity scarf. These colors contrast really nicely against the black, making her stand out in a crowd. Seeing these colors also gets me super excited for spring being right around the corner. You see infinity scarves everywhere during the winter but changing it up by wearing one in a vibrant color can really enhance any look. Feeling ambitious? Try making your own infinity scarf like the one this Fashionista’s rocking.
This DIY is not as out of reach as it may seem. Nowadays, you can YouTube any tutorials, including how to knit an infinity scarf of your own. If not, go visit grandma for a weekend and I’m sure she’d love passing on her knitting needles to the younger generation. The great things about doing this yourself rather than going out and buying one is that you save money, get to pick out the yarn you want and you have bragging rights once you have a finished product.
How To: If you’re looking to get this Fashionista’s look but haven’t mastered the knitting needles yet, here is another similar knit infinity scarf. You can also find her denim button-up, black leggings with layered high socks and combat boots here.
