Fashion rules are not like any other rules—they are meant to be broken. I once believed that you could never wear denim on denim. But the all-denim look is making a name for itself. It’s been seen here and there on the runways and as I was pleasantly surprised, on this week’s Fashionisto. He actually manages to pull off triple denim and proves not only the point that denim on denim is a good idea, but also that it can be one of the best ways to layer.
If you are going to go the all-denim route, you are going to need the essentials. First start off with jeans, of course, and then pair them with a denim shirt and jacket. Adding busy pieces to your all denim look would be a big mistake, but you will definitely want to break it up a bit. So I suggest doing what the Fashionisto has done and wear something neutral, perhaps a cream sweater. Another mistake you will not want to make is wearing denim in all the same washes. Definitely mix dark and light washes in order to achieve the best look.
The Fashionisto keeps on top of the game style with his shoe choice. He goes with a pair of oxfords, which of course are always the classiest. They’re the final touch to make this all-denim look stand out.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Triple denim is always a risk, but the reward can be immeasurable. You gotta want it.”
