Can we just stop for a second and acknowledge that black is a color and black is the best color of all colors. I know there is always a constant debate about whether or not black is a color or a shade or (insert one of the many things people say about black) but I am still that person when asked her favorite color to wear, says black. There is something about the chic and sophisticated vibe that comes through an individual wearing head to toe black. Adding a decent pop of color is super cool too!
This week I gained inspiration from the Ter et Bantine fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, specifically look 27. “For his debut collection at Ter et Bantine, Kostas Murkudis took the life of Sarla Thakral, India’s first female aviator…” (Style.com). Most of the looks are super dark and edgy with uniquely cut angles or hints of leather. The collection caught my attention because it was inspired by an extremely strong and powerful woman and of course, who runs the world? Girls!
For my look, I went for something that I thought was equally sophisticated but also a tad sexy. Since there is skin showing throughout my outfit, I went for a black blazer that wasn’t too fitted. I wanted to have the structure of a blazer but the loose fit of one, keeping the attention away from the blazer and more on the other points of the piece. Under the blazer I wore a haltered leotard. Leotards are always fun because they are easy to wear and can turn something that was cute into something that is sexy. You guys can’t see it now, but the back of the leotard is backless and if I were to take off the blazer, the outfit could still speak volumes.
Next, I paired my black skinnies to the look. Knee-ripped black skinnies have been extremely popular this year but instead of buying already ripped jeans, I just ripped these ones myself. It is super easy! Just throw on the jeans you want to rip and make a tiny mark at your knee. Once you take them off, cut a straight line where you made that mark. At first, its going to look very neat and I like when the rip of a jean is kind of messy so to achieve that look you can just put your jeans into the laundry and when they come out, they will be perfect!
For the shoes I wore these stunningly sleek black booties I got for Christmas. I am in love with them because they are so sleek and give me that aviator vibe, but they are also amazing to walk in and can be paired with many different outfits.
Lastly, I threw on my blue floppy beanie, which is always nice for this crisp time of year and (of course) my shades to pull everything together.
