Sass & Bide’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was the epitome of edgy tough-girl meets retro glam. Naturally, I was immediately obsessed. Highlighting an expanse of perfectly fitted luxe leather leggings, metallic embellishments, dark color palettes and retro silhouettes, Sass & Bide definitely hit the mark with this collection. The juxtaposition of tough leather elements and strong lines with gold embellishments and flowing fabrics points Cuthbertson’s—Sass & Bide’s new creative director—ensembles toward a look affectionately coined as “urban-gladiatrix.”
One of my favorite looks from Sass & Bide featured a stunning pair of the aforementioned skin-tight leather leggings, a white button-up blouse and an oversized black fur vest. To embody the feel of the designer’s original look, I opted for coated denim jeggings which I cuffed slightly above the ankle. I further layered a black faux moto leather vest (one of my major closet staples) over a simple, plain white muscle tank top. These important (albeit fairly basic) pieces paired together strongly established the dark, tough-girl vibe found in Sass & Bide’s collection. To capture some of its more mod and retro elements, I chose to accessorize with oversized cat-eye sunglasses, stackable rings and pointy black flats. Topping off and completing the look, I added a coat or two of Kat Von D’s bauhau5 lipstick.
In its entirety, my own look inspired by Sass & Bide’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is an on-trend ensemble where traditionally masculine silhouettes meet feminine details. With Cuthbertson working as the label’s new creative director, I can’t wait to see what’s to come on future runways with Sass & Bide.
