STYLE GURU STYLE: Pack A Punch

The recent Zadig & Voltaire ready-to-wear fall 2015 runway show played much to their roots in rock-inspired wear. They kept the color palette minimal with a focus on textured neutrals. Each look had just enough edge to cause heads to turn and leave an impression. This show screamed sass and attitude without having to say anything at all. The two designers worked flawlessly to bring the label back to the rock aspect of inception and did so by adding a risqué touch to many of their ensembles and accentuating the textures. Among my favorites are this mesh top and sheer navy dress.

With all of the beautiful weather I decided to brave a similar look to this one. Wearing one of my favorite combinations ever, I donned a high waisted skirt and crop top. The skirt, which is very reminiscent of the Zadig & Voltaire show, is from Urban Outfitters five years ago, proving that what is old can always be new again! Paired with the crop top, there is a modern and young feel to an otherwise structured silhouette. The tweed pattern of the skirt works nicely with the ribbed knit of the crop top. To give the outfit just a little more color and punch, I added a beautiful forest green leather jacket, adding that rocker chic edge. The color here is the perfect transition for the warmer months.

This fall 2015 demonstrated to me the power of a little mini skirt and the impact of texture. The spring is the time to mesh your winter favorites with shorter hems, something that Zadig & Voltaire accomplished seamlessly.

Get My Look: 1. A textured skirt. 2. A bold leather jacket. 3. A basic crop top.
