The Fendi spring 2015 runway show reintroduced the daring denim on denim (on denim) trend. This trend has cropped up every few seasons and looks like it’s here to stay. On the runway, the look was dramatic, with a denim top, pleated jeans and a jean jacket. The look is fresh for spring and can actually be implemented into your everyday look.
I toned down the trend by pairing a chambray button-down with dark-wash jeans. The two colors have enough contrast to ensure that it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a Canadian tuxedo. Everyone remembers Britney and Justin circa 2001 in their all-denim getups. That was certainly not the look I was going for. I’m usually one to keep it classic, so pairing a light button-down (which I usually wear with leggings or black jeans) with my normal blue jeans was a way to dip my toe in the trend.
I paired the denim look with some statement accessories. The black tote bag is simple and goes with everything. I wear it almost every day. I wore my black booties to add a little edge to the look and to give me a little much needed height. Lastly, I picked up a trendy floppy hat in Milan and added it into the mix. Floppy hats are the perfect statement piece because they are an easy way to add a hint of sophistication and flair to any look. A swipe of berry lipstick was the finishing touch.
