IRO’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear boasted a monochromatic collection of white and black with the occasional pop of burgundy. The colors looked perfect together, which makes me want an entire wardrobe of those colors. For individuals who think black and white are boring, think again. IRO demonstrates that wearing aesthetically unique pieces and varying textures can replace the “pop of color” in an outfit. This diverse collection showcases textures, such as leather, fur and knits. Each look had leather incorporated into the final look. Whether that is a leather belt, high-waisted pant or skirt, without fail, leather made an appearance in each grunge-inspired look.
As an individual who loves leather and thinks it makes the perfect final touch to any outfit, this collection is something I admire. Inspired by IRO’s show, I decided to wear a burgundy jacket with leather detailing. I tend to shy from color, but I found an easy transition from black to a darker burgundy. It is still cold in Michigan, so I paired a scarf with my coat. I donned high-waisted jeans and my favorite gray Vince Camuto heeled boots to complete the look. This entire look gives a laid back vibe, and the leather detailing makes it instantly have a grunge feel—similar to the IRO fall 2015 collection. If you are afraid of leather or don’t think it’s your style, try incorporating leather accents, such as a leather belt or a jacket with leather cuffs.
