As I walk around campus, I pass by way too many ladies wearing a North Face jacket, a pair of UGGs and black leggings with a Starbucks cup in hand. With that being said, spotting a Fashionista on any college campus who is truly expressing themselves through style is like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs. That’s why seeing this Fashionista stopped me in my tracks. Her style is so bold. I admire the way she fearlessly overlaid so many patterns to create such an interesting look.
There’s so much to talk about in this outfit, so dissecting this Fashionista’s look is going to be difficult. Let’s start from the top. Her hat is too cool. Hats like this are definitely making a comeback. Any outfit looks instantly cooler with the addition of a sleek black ranger hat.
She has layered an blue T-shirt with various glyphs with a Hawiian floral button-up. On top of that, she is wearing a black and white houndstooth coat. No pattern is safe from this Fashionista’s outfit! She pairs the tops and jacket with a pair of coral jeans, just in time for spring.
And now, drumroll please…My favorite part of the whole outfit: her shoes. This Fashionista’s shoes are stunning. When I first looked at them, I didn’t realize the shoes were a pair of Dr. Martens, but after learning that about them, I have grown to love them even more. I’m a firm believer that every Fashionista/o should have a pair of Dr. Martens boots in his or her closet. The gorgeous paisley pattern on her boots gives her outfit a rich look, not to mention the silky fabric the boots are made of—very vintage. I applaud this Fashionista for combining a plethora of different patterns to create a look that is completely her own.
How To: Who ever said that houndstooth can’t be paired with paisley? No one! Don’t be afraid to take risks and show off your style. Maybe taking a fashion risk can pay off—you could end up being featured on CollegeFashionista!
