It may be spring for some of my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos but it still feels like winter on my campus! It can be a bit disheartening to wake up and see snow falling outside my window when there are so many spring purchases sitting in my closet just waiting to be worn. Florals, bright prints, pastel colors…none of those are complemented by the snow! However, we can all slowly begin introducing some lighter colors into our winter looks, as seen on this Fashionista.
She pairs her navy coat with a pair of skinny jeans, a baby blue and gray backpack and white Michael Kors sneakers. While I would have looked at the weather, sighed heavily and thrown on every black item in my closet, she complemented her navy coat with light accessories that make her outfit look bright and almost airy. It’s amazingly simple, which is incredibly important with exam season around the corner. One can easily see how the baby blue/white/gray color palette could have been substituted for a pastel pink, peach or mint and looked just as good. Moreover, her navy jacket is a great substitute for black. The combination of navy and white immediately made me think of this as a nautical look, which is the complete opposite of winter!
This Fashionista proves that we should not be afraid to work spring colors into our wardrobe even if the weather disagrees with us. Put away your fur-lined winter boots and knit hats; stay warm in your favorite coat and throw on your favorite spring pieces. You’ll stay warm and look chic. Take that, winter!
