Many ready-to-wear collections walk the thin line of actually being ready to wear right off the runway and only wearable for supermodels and high-fashion bloggers. As college students, we often have to take a very loose interpretation of our favorite runway looks, but the Banana Republic spring 2015 ready-to-wear show made re-creating some of my favorite looks an easy feat.
Structured staples and neutral tones were the trademarks of the show. The models were decked out in leather accents and gorgeous outerwear. I was especially drawn to the denim that was coming down the runway. They dressed up the jeans with feminine blouses and blush colors, all of which screamed spring. Almost every look was tied together with oversized sunglasses and pulled back hair. Overall, the show was sleek and wearable—everything I could want from a ready-to-wear show.
For my interpretation of the vibes going on at the show, I started with the newest addition to my spring wardrobe—medium wash distressed jeans. I usually gravitate toward black jeans or extremely dark wash denim, so these were a risky purchase for me, but after I tried them on it was love at first wear. For the top half of my outfit, I went for even more denim—well, chambray. I paired a classic chambray button-down with a cropped jacket. Outerwear was a staple in the show and this structured, spring jacket was the perfect way to emulate a few of the looks I saw on the runway. For accessories, I wore a black leather backpack with some eyelet details and tortoise wayfarers. To complete the entire look, I applied pink lipstick that was similar to the coral shade many of the models were wearing.
