In the dredge of the post-Spring Break return to class, the chronic senioritis has begun to claim its proper home in my bones, and the only thing that’s truly spoken to me has been Karen Walker’s 2015 resort collection. The line features a leisurely combination of denim and shades of blue, combining not only my two favorite staples but also matching my current easygoing frame of mind. While the collection is definitely perfect resort clothing made for lounging it up over break (if you’re lucky enough to still be on break), it also gave me serious comfort envy. The loose fitting chambray pieces are put together enough for any chill Fashionista on the run while still maintaining a huge comfort level Which, let’s be real here, is the dream we all crave.
To bring the chill vibe of Karen Walker’s collection into my #OOTD, I decided to keep it simple with a few basics. First, I started off by pairing a light chambray top with a pair of equally light skinnies. I chose to go with more form-fitting cuts than those featured in the collection. To keep it casual, I opted for distressed pieces with a bit of personality. Distressed denim will likely be the cause of demise, to be honest.
In place of crisp, clean chambray blues, I brought in pieces with a bit more wear and tear to them to showcase my more casual style. To keep it in line with the shades of blue and add variation, I chose a plain white T-shirt to break the look up a bit while still keeping it coherent and complementary. And inspired by the awesome orange statement sunglasses featured in the collection, I decided to accessorize the look with what I feel are equally awesome tortoise shell sunglasses, which are perfect for lounging out in the sun. After all, just because spring break’s over doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a moment to ourselves on campus.
