ALL IN THE DETAILS: Sweet Disposition

Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Ah, sweet spring is upon us.

This outfit is my kind of spring fashion. It has my favorite attitude about dressing for springtime. In a way that would make Miranda Preistly (see: The Devil Wears Prada) proud, it ignores the obvious selection: florals.

It does seem that we fall into the flower trap as soon as the world becomes ripe with beauty, brightness and vibrancy again. On the one hand, can you blame us? Spring is rebirth. Flowers bloom and birds chirp and life is a Norman Rockwell painting. (Subthought: Does life imitate art or does art imitate life?) On the other hand, let’s put down the flower crown for five minutes and indulge in simplicity.

This Fashionista shows her love for spring in a gentle way. Her pale blue frock with white high-top Converse remind me that less is usually more. I forgot how much I loved simple, gold hoops, a remnant of my baby days. Her minimalism is eye-catching and hard to replicate. The baby-doll fit cinches at the ribs and flares out with complete disregard to contours of her body. In the least Lolita way possible, we are growing an affinity for childlike loveliness. I’ve noticed the Fashionistas (and even some Fashionistos!) in my life are drawing more and more inspiration from toddler fashion. Peter Pan collars and frilly socks fill their closets. I’m not kidding. Is it something about spring that extracts a fragility out of us? It must be that fragility and daintiness associated with children.

Undeniably, there is something sweet and pure about (most) children. In my experiences, children seem to harness most of the world’s supply of unconditional love in pockets of the universe. Example: elementary schools. They radiate what I am talking about.

This spring, let’s lean into all that connects us to the naivety and tenderness of youth. Let’s be reborn with our dear friend, spring. Maybe even wear a dress or two.

How To: A white pair of high-top Converse. Enough said. Boom. It forever ends the question, “What shoes do I wear?” Get those white Converse dirty when you’re exploring this spring.
