Flared denim, suede fringe and big hair were embraced in the ’70s, and are now receiving the same welcome in 2015. A handful of Fashionistas shudder during flashbacks to the ’70s, but the latest Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection nailed the reinvigorated, upcoming trend. The catwalk was filled with crocheted bohemian dresses, lace-up suede sandals and feminine hemlines. One key theme that caught my eye in Chloé’s show was the stonewashed denim outfits. Be prepared to fall in love.
Who doesn’t love denim on denim? I constantly add to my denim collection, so when I saw this trend showcase in Chloé’s ready-to-wear collection, I couldn’t hide my excitement. I have (a little too much) fun pulling ideas from the latest fashion shows and incorporating them into my everyday look. So, I sprinted to my closet and after digging and experimenting with which denim top goes perfectly with what denim bottom, I fashioned this retro Chloé-esque look.
I’m sporting my go-to chambray shirt in a faded light wash with copper buttons. There are so many ways to cuff sleeves, so I tend to casually roll them to my elbows and push them up to add edge. I then shimmied into my rolled skinny denim by Current/Elliott. I decided to pair my shirt with dark denim, which lends to an effortless contrast between denim washes. I also tied in lace-up sandals with this look and finished them off with loose bows in the back. To continue the ’70s vibe, I threw my dramatic large-framed sunglasses into the look as a fun touch.
Chloé, the French style maven, brings the spirit of the ’70s back to life this spring with its exquisitely crafted fabrics and killer denim; I can’t be more excited for this trend to evolve!
