Pinned in the back of nearly every Fashionista’s mind is the memory of Meryl Streep traipsing around the offices of Runway magazine as Miranda Priestly in the iconic movie The Devil Wears Prada. Perhaps one of the most memorable scenes from the entire movie was when Priestly explained the trickling down of trends from the runway to a bargain basement. While it seems that most runway trends are meekly disguised by commercial branding, this summer’s trend of remastered ’70s apparel is blatantly obvious and is epitomized by Chloé summer 2015 collection.
Chloé’s summer collection was a line of whimsical yet precise lace frocks, loose swaying tops and knee-high gladiator sandals. As summer quickly approaches (yay!) summer wardrobes are sure to feature those elements. My ensemble consisting of a white lace off-the-shoulder top and black and white paisley joggers is a blend of ’70s cool and my own personal style. I accessorized it with a gold bangle and a gold necklace set. Since I like mixing neutrals into almost everything, I finished the outfit with taupe booties and a beige bag with braided zippers.
They say that history repeats itself, and that could not be more true in the world of fashion. Trends always have a way of morphing over time to remain relevant to new generations, kind of like Madonna. Stores and boutiques everywhere already have inventories full of modern apparel with hints of ’70s chic. Slipping into this trend will be a breeze.
