As I’ve said in my last post, spring semester is coming to a close, and internship season is on the rise! Between filling out applications and moving from several interviews to class to eventually your internship, the process can be daunting. You want your outfit to be the last of your worries. Depending on the field you’re going into, some workplaces are more lenient than others when it comes to wardrobe. At these companies, the employees are often dressed in business casual attire, rather than business professional.
In other words, instead of wearing the classic tailored suit to work everyday, these employees are probably sporting a linen blazer with a top and midi skirt or even a casual sundress with a blazer. Take a tip from this Fashionista who currently interns at a French fashion public relations firm that works with top designers, such as Dior and Chanel.
In her business casual look, she is sporting a linen gray blazer with a blue under layer that gives off a classic oxford vibe. She pairs the blazer with a lightweight, off-white blouse and floral jeans for an added edge to her look. She keeps her accessories minimal with her wraparound pendant necklace and her mix of gold bracelets. To finish off the look, she is wearing black studded flats, a go-to for most of her outfits.
When wearing business casual, it’s the ideal time to incorporate pieces that are meaningful to you as well. Whether they’re family heirlooms or the new fad, such as the Live Lokai bracelet, a little authenticity goes a long way.
One Simple Change: Looking to take this look from day to night? Throw on a pair of black wedges, a red lip and a few gold midi rings, and you’re good to go!
