Leather is definitely a staple for fall and winter, but many spring 2015 runway shows such as Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Hermès show that leather will be on-trend this season as well. So while you are spring cleaning and happily stuffing away your puffy winter coat and snow boots, leave alone that leather jacket and pair of leather leggings that you know you don’t want to say goodbye to just yet.
Leather can work in the spring, especially in a city like Chicago where spring isn’t even really a season, if worn the right way with the right things. Pair leather leggings with a sleeveless top or an airy blouse like this Fashionista did, and wear your signature leather jacket with your favorite pair of jean shorts. Even more, though, you can get entirely new leather pieces for spring. Cool leather shorts and a faux leather halter minidress really make a statement. Don’t be afraid to shy away from black and experiment with some color! A pastel or cobalt leather skirt, a coral jacket and an off-white leather blouse are all fun options for this season. Leather pieces, as well as suede pieces, are also great for music festivals. It’s never too early to start thinking about Lollapalooza!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love pairing something a little edgy, like leather leggings, with something more preppy for a fun yet balanced look. I like to keep my jewelry pretty simple to pull it all together.”
