Whether you’re backpacking in the woods, traveling abroad or simply taking a day trip to explore a new part of town, adventure is out there and every Fashionista should know how to balance being practical and stylish at the same time. I’ve said it once and you’ll probably hear me say it again: comfort is key. When you see someone totally owning their look and oozing confidence, they can pull off anything.
This week’s Fashionista took that idea to heart and rocked an understated and minimal outfit for a day of exploring one of L.A.’s many neighborhoods. Influenced by the skater vibe that Venice Beach is known for, she sports this backwards leopard print snapback hat. I truly admire anyone who can seamlessly transition loungewear apparel into whatever else their day might bring and that is exactly what she managed to do here. A stylish oversized hoodie, slightly cropped fuses comfort and style, not to mention it won’t leave her shivering after the sun goes down. And a swingy chiffon pleated skirt like hers is breezy, lightweight and totally no fuss. Finally, her pair of rubber soled sandals are SoCal approved: on-trend and easy.
This Fashionista is a great example of how to allow your surroundings to influence your style. She adopted the laid back nature of this beach city into her own look and the mix of Venice skater bro and street style edge definitely worked to her advantage.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think it’s really important to be comfortable wherever you go. Luckily, exploring the LA area never has to mean dressing up a lot since everyone around here seems to be so laid back and casual.”
