Spring colors have never been my thing. I’m more of a dark color person than pretty pastels and bright springy pinks kind of person. This Fashionista, however, caught my attention with her easy, breezy outfit. I spotted her working on a class project, which was to raise awareness for single mothers and how tough it can be raising children on their own. Her colors are light and great for spring, but not overwhelmingly bright. Her oversized tank top is easy and comfortable, but the lace jacket dresses it up just a bit.
These are the kinds of colors that I love for spring. Just a little nonconventional, but definitely beautiful together; I’ve been seeing so many bright colors paired together lately, but this Fashionista’s muted tones are what I love. This lace jacket is really an excellent piece for anyone’s wardrobe. It can be worn year round, dressed up or down, and the color is easy to pair with everything.
Let’s not forget about shoes. Sandals are finally being pulled from the back of the closet. This Fashionista kept with the simple look of her outfit by pairing it with strappy sandals. These particular sandals are great because they are simple and not overbearing compared to the rest of the outfit, but they aren’t boring because of the detail on the front of the shoe.
Flowy, easy pieces are absolutely fabulous for spring. 3.1 Phillip Lim and Band of Outsiders both showed amazing spring 2015 ready-to-wear collections featuring effortless garments in the most beautiful color palettes. 3.1 Phillip Lim pieces had a bit more structure, but still managed to make them look easy and comfortable. The color scheme consisted of mostly neutrals, like our Fashionista is wearing, but with pops of pastel green and yellow. Band of Outsiders also used a lot of neutrals, however the fabric choices were much airier with a ton of easy draping. A few pink pastel dresses walked the runway along with a slew of chic patterns. Black and white dominated the show, ending with an amazing black jumpsuit.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Layering is crucial with this weather. A jacket like this is so easy to throw on in the morning and it keeps me warm!”
