STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Don't Overdo It

You all will probably hate me for saying this, but finals are here. You’ve been trying to push out the thought of exams for a couple of weeks now, and if you have anything in common with me, you’re probably stressing out like crazy. But I assure you that you don’t need to stress about your fashion for the week. Take a look at this Fashionisto. He’s casual and sophisticated, and he probably got ready in a matter of minutes, (but I’m not sure how long it took him to create his killer man bun). I do know, however, that he rocks the perfect attire for finals week and that man-bun-obsessed college girls are in total favor of his hairdo.

Here at Loyola University Chicago, we live right on Lake Michigan. That means great views… and giant gusts of wind. So why not rock a sweater during finals week? It’s comfortable, warm and casual. You can bet you won’t overdo it, and who would want to get dressed up anyways? Find inspiration from this Fashionisto, and throw on a pair of slim-fit jeans and some sneakers, and you’re good to go. If you’re lucky enough to have consistently warm weather, opt for a sleeveless sweatshirt and a pair of shorts. That was easy, right? But there’s one more thing: for good luck, wear some funky socks. They might be exactly what takes you from your B+ to that A- you want. Okay, maybe not, but I know they will bring a smile to your face and will keep you pumped up and ready to conquer any test that comes your way.

Oh, and for all those lakeshore students, please, please, please tie a rubber band around those flashcards, okay? You don’t need the wind to snatch those babies away from you. Above all, remember to keep the fashion simple and study. Good luck, my friends. As my good friend Effie says, “May the [curve] be ever in your favor.” She said something like that, right?

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Be comfortable. If you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing, you usually end up overworking it. I think a nice pair of jeans and a sweater usually go well.”
