I have always been a fan of military-inspired fashion. It seems that an olive green jacket or a camouflage printed T-shirt never go out of style. As a girl who wears almost exclusively neutrals, army green apparel works as my slight dip into the color-wearing side of fashion. The green hue works with almost any outfit ranging from feminine floral dresses to tough leather pants.
My infatuation with the color came to a peak when I saw the Rebecca Minkoff pre-fall 2015 collection. Every single model donned an article of clothing in the utilitarian green family. The collection presented structured skirts with bronzed hardware, a breezy anorak, a structured mini dress with cargo accents and much more, all adorning the olive green hue. Almost anyone could find something to wear with Minkoff’s variation of military-inspired pieces.
My version of this outfit included another breezy anorak in an army green color, but this one showcased a floral print disguised as camouflage. I consider it the perfect middle ground between masculine military wear and feminine florals. I paired my jacket with a cream eyelet blouse to offset the military jacket. Staying true to my omission of color in nearly all of my outfits, I threw on a pair of washed black jeans and a pair of black Converse. I topped off the outfit with a collection of dainty, gold necklaces to add a bit more femininity. This outfit is a great example of how to soften the more masculine military trend. Adding delicate jewelry, florals or feminine shapes can keep a utilitarian look from becoming too masculine.
