It has been clearly evident in the past few series of fashion weeks that the 1970s peace-and-love vibe has been a massive influence on designers. This is no different for the spring 2015 ready-to-wear show for Felder Felder. The show featured fun prints, bright metallics and flowy fabrics. The silhouettes of the show was a perfect combination of long, flowing layers and body-conscious pieces with a few skater skirts thrown into the mix. The colors for the collection were both peaceful and romantic; every hippie’s dream. It was a new, lighthearted take on the popular ’70s look.
My favorite aspects of the line were definitely the colors and the mix of long and flowy with body-conscious. With these elements in mind, I planned an outfit that embodied these characteristics. Luckily, I found an all-in-one piece in my wardrobe. This maxi dress features both a peaceful blue and a romantic orange. The beauty of maxi dresses is that they can be both body-conscious and flowy at the same time. To finish off the look, I donned a pair of cutout oxfords and a gold and turquoise necklace.
This runway show helped shed light on some aspects of the peace and love style that is sometimes overshadowed by the fringe, suede and paisley that is usually associated with this trend. It certainly is an easy trend to replicate and may actually move me away from suede and fringe for the time being.
