Believe it or not, I used to have a hard time integrating runway fashion into my everyday ensembles. I’m always on the go, so it’s easy to neglect major designer trends, especially the ones I can’t afford. However, designers like Stacey Bendet make it easy to incorporate simple, chic ideas into everyday outfits. The alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear show featured a variety of feminine pieces including floral dresses, beaded tops and fitted skirts.
My favorite look from the show took a button-down shirt and paired it with a cute patterned sweater. I love this idea because it makes any outfit look put together, even if you’re just wearing jeans. Added bonus: the layered look is super easy to recreate. Since the weather has gotten warmer in the past few weeks, I opted for a thin cardigan and simply pulled it over my Polo Ralph Lauren button-down. One of the fun things about this look is that it can be styled several different ways. Leave the shirts untucked for a more casual look, or tuck them into a high-waisted skirt for a more polished finish. You can also roll up the sleeves and add some arm candy if you’re in the mood!
I also like how this look includes a mini skirt. This offsets the layered portion of the outfit and is both flirty and fun. If you’re planning on rocking a mini skirt with this layered look, slip on a pair of pumps too. Flats can sometimes be unflattering when paired with mini skirts, and a pair of heels really takes this look to the next level.
