We all have those nonstop days that we dread. The one that that starts at 9:00 a.m. and doesn’t end until 10:00 p.m. that evening. For me, that day is Wednesday. I start with class all day starting at 8:50 a.m. and go from there to work until 10:00 p.m. These days can be especially hard to dress for, as I have to fit several occasions into one outfit. Days like this where I have no time to make a trip home and change, I employ the day to night strategy of dressing. Having a cute and functional go-to outfit can do a lot to make these busy days a little more bearable. It can be very hard to achieve that elusive day to night ensemble look. However, as this Fashionista demonstrates, mastering this look has everything to do with layering.
To achieve this look, simplicity is key and will go a long way in how transitional an outfit is. She has chosen a great neutral all-black color palette which works great for evening occasions and looks even more sophisticated during the day. Also the androgynous silhouette and trendy hem line of her dress keep the outfit on-trend. She frames her ensemble with a long structureless black cardigan and brown strappy flats. And just like that she is ready for lunch with friends, afternoon class and happy hour all at once.
One Simple Change: For a more formal nighttime look, take off the cardigan and add some thin strapped heels. The finished look will be a fashion-forward result.
