Many Fashionista/os have heard how being fashionable does not always equate to being comfortable. Today, with the variety of fabrics, silhouettes and patterns, being comfortable and fashionable is possible. A trend that is making a comeback from last summer is the long, floral kimono cardigan. This type of kimono garment is easily dressed up or down depending on the day. Typically, the cardigan is open, has a repeating floral print and decorated with tassels along the hem. The oversized and slouchy quality of the kimono cardigan allows many style variations, whether it be over a dress, or on top of yoga wear.
Caught riding on a bike, this Fashionista sported a relaxed summer look complete with an oversized coral T-shirt and Birkenstocks. To dress up her comfortable style, she added the longer, black floral kimono cardigan and paired it with a contrasting polka dot backpack. This Fashionista cited her style is defined by comfort, and shows how comfortable can still be fashionable when trending accessories are brought into play. The floral kimono cardigan added flavor to this Fashionista’s style on a physical heavy day, while being comfortable at the same time.
So will this type of cardigan make a comeback for summer 2015? As seen everywhere at the end of summer 2014, this relaxed kimono style garment is appearing in multiple places on campus. This transitional garment can be worn many ways, whether it be over a formal dress, with casual daywear or on the beach in summer.
