It is no secret that the spring 2015 runways were saturated with the ’70s bohemian trend. From billowing peasant tops at Chloé to succulent suede skirts at Gucci to lace-up gladiator sandals at Valentino, the designers successfully captured the easy glamour that epitomized the era.
One of my favorite ’70s-inspired collections was Anna Sui’s. The eclectic designer is known for mixing prints, and this season was no exception. She showed flowing maxi dresses, tunics and pants in a variety of psychedelic patterns. Luxurious, silky textures helped give Sui’s pieces a thoughtful ambiguity, making them appropriate to wear to a fancy occasion or for just lounging around the house.
Needless to say, I have become obsessed with the ’70s. I chose a loose printed bohemian dress that was reminiscent of Anna Sui’s collection.
My dress was a geranium pink color containing a white print resembling medallions. Its loose baby doll fit made it comfortable and stylish. Since the piece was relatively simple on its own, I decided to amp it up with some accessories.
My white crochet vest was the perfect complement to the dress and helped bring out the white in the print. Crochet vests are yet another ’70s trend and serve as essential pieces for girls today, especially if they are attending a music festival.
I then added some basic bohemian jewelry to complete my look. My silver necklace and ring each had a white moonstone that once again complemented the colors in my outfit.
The final addition to my ensemble was my favorite pair of heels. These are actually an authentic vintage piece from the ’70s. The wooden soles and white leather straps gave them the perfect effortlessly glam vibe to complete my look.
To achieve a similar vibe, all you need is a baby doll dress, a crochet vest and some wooden heels. You will look like you walked straight out of That ’70s Show!
