I’d like to think that I’m not the only girl who spends her free time in the early a.m. every night going through old fashion shows and putting outfits together in her head. With finals quickly approaching, my free time is super limited, so when I do get the chance to relax in bed, I usually do so while watching old shows and flipping through the pages of Vogue (#PerfectNights).
One of the shows that I was watching the other night was that of my all-time favorite, Dolce&Gabbana. Their spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection was stunning. There are no words to express how in love I am with this collection. Is it the combination of black, beige and red? The paisley and abstract prints? The lace? The structured feminine silhouettes? The embellishments? I can’t figure out exactly what it is that makes me swoon over this collection, but what I do know for sure is that it embodies every single aspect of my personal style.
My favorite pieces from this collection are probably the embellished shirts, dresses and pants. As the ultimate girly girl, it’s in my nature to be attracted to anything that sparkles or shines (not much explaining needed after this) and this is why I probably went a little too crazy over the bejeweled pieces. Domenico and Stefano unquestionably did an exceptional job at creating looks that balanced simplicity with elegance and chicness, all while maintaining a certain sense of mystery.
Right after watching the show, I felt a teeny-tiny bit inspired by it and so I mentally put together the perfect outfit and then brought it to life the next day. For this look, I wore a plain black semi-cropped sweater with embellishments all over the sleeves. Under it I wore a pair of high-waisted black leather shorts (perks of the spring weather) and went for a pair of black embellished sandals that matched the sweater perfectly and made the outfit stand out even more. As for my accessories, I kept things basic by simply adding a few silver rings and necklaces, an ankle bracelet and my small black leather cross-body Prada bag.
Embellished pieces are a must in my closet and I definitely look forward to creating more looks like this one, especially now that the weather’s much nicer. What’s better than an outfit that makes a statement without being too crazy or too out-there, anyway? Nothing— I know. So if I were you, I’d go invest in an embellished piece right now. You won’t regret it.
