When you go to a school that has an amazing fashion program, you see Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising students all around you. They are always wearing the latest trends and sporting the most famous designers. Marist College has one of the best fashion departments in New York (I’m biased, of course). The fashion students at this school always stand out and always look awesome. This week, I was able to catch one of these Fashion Design students and ask her a few questions of my own. Even though she’s been super busy preparing for finals and the upcoming 2015 Silver Needle Runway Show, I still had a chance to talk to her to see where her talents are going to bring her.
Name: Christina Moffa
Role: Fashion Design Student
CollegeFashionista: What made you want to study fashion in college?
Christina Moffa: I wanted to study fashion in college because trends are constantly coming and going so, there is always something new to learn. Also, because everyone is involved, no matter what his or her major is! Everyone gets up and gets dressed in the morning and understanding what they wear and why they wear it is so interesting to me!
CF: What is your dream job in the fashion industry?
CM: My dream job in the fashion industry is to design my own high end line of dresses and gowns, just like the ones you see on celebrities at the Oscars or the Grammys. I’ve always been interested in pop culture, so designing beautiful, extravagant gowns like the ones showcased every year at high profile events is the perfect fit for me!
CF: If you could choose one fashion designer to work with anywhere in the world, who would it be and why?
CM: I would LOVE to work with Oscar de la Renta. Although he’s recently passed, I’ve always admired his designs and the style in which he dressed women in head to toe glamorous looks with bold color and gorgeous prints. His fall 2015 line (designed by Peter Copping) was to die for!
CF: What’s your go-to outfit for this upcoming summer season?
CM: My “go-to” outfit for summer is a pair of distressed high-waisted jean shorts with a solid crop top and patterned kimono! I like to be casual and comfortable in the hot weather. The kimono adds the pop of color that the outfit is lacking and also shields from the sun!
