Graduation, in one word, is bittersweet. It’s a time to reflect on the last four years in the process of earning your undergraduate degree, and prepare for the next big step in life. Considering university graduates have practically been in school their whole lives, this is obviously a big change. But facing the real world is inevitable. And for me, I’m excited to see what’s next.
When I first started college, like most people, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I mean, sure, I knew I wanted to write but I wasn’t sure about what. And I knew I really liked fringed heels and pretty pastel dresses. But that’s when CollegeFashionista really paved the way for me. Through this platform, I was not only able to pursue my dreams of becoming a writer, but it also opened my eyes to the world of fashion and style. Every week, with every one of my posts that went live, I was grateful to be on the University of Tennessee’s campus to speak to and photograph wonderfully unique students and showcase their originality on this website.
It has been an amazing five semesters with you, CollegeFashionista, and I’m sad it has to come to an end. But every ending also means a new beginning, and I wouldn’t be as determined as I am to achieve my dreams if it weren’t for everyone that is a part of this fantastic organization. While I intend on staying in Rocky Top for the next few months, I am eagerly applying to opportunities in digital and editorial within the fashion and media industries. And in the meantime, you’ll find me at the mall shopping for gold jewelry and witty graphic T-shirts.
So, as I go off into the real world (and pretend to be an adult) I will take my memories and experiences from college and CollegeFashionista with me every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible (Amy, Melissa, Jordan, Sammy, Aisha and Sarah, that means you!).
