AROUND TOWN: Kristian Myers

Ever searched through fashion blogs and wondered how you could get noticed? A close friend of mine used her blog exploring to land a job with a big retail company that helped her expand her style and her closet.

Name: Kristian Myers

Position: Sales Associate at J.Crew

CollegeFashionista: How did you become interested in fashion?

Kristian Myers: I became interested in fashion in high school. I became a lot slimmer then, and my mother has a lot to do with why I love fashion. She taught me certain things, and, from there, I began to create my own style by looking at different magazines, YouTube videos and fashion blogs.

CF: Why did you choose J.Crew?

KM:  I thought it would be a better opportunity to enhance my style some more and learn how to incorporate different pieces together. Plus, the staffing and management is great!

CF: What is it like working for a major fashion company?

KM: One of there perks is seeing the new trends throughout the year and seeing the up-and-coming trends as well. Also, I love being able to incorporate my own style when it comes to helping customers.

CF: How would you describe your personal style?

KM: I don’t think I really just have a set style because what I like ranges. For example, I might want to look like a cute hippie one day with a cute fringe crop top, high-waisted pants and a cute flower headband. Then the next day, I might want to wear some leather leggings, a nice top and some booties or open toe shoes.

CF: What’s one piece of good style advice?

KM: Do not wear anything too short, too tight or too revealing. I think every lady should live by this. It kind of stuck by me in my college career after attending a Catholic high school. Another piece of advice is to always find balance. If you’re revealing above the waist, cover up the bottom and vise versa.

CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?

KM: I love a lot of stores but my favorites are: H&M, Forever 21, Zara and Urban Outfitters. 

CF: What is one fashion item you can’t live without?

KM: One fashion item I can’t live without would have to be my glasses. I have big Wayfarer Ray-Ban glasses in red and black. I can’t live without them because they are my favorite pieces, and they shape my face.
