STYLE GURU BIO: Abby Carpenter

Hello, Fashionistas/Fashionistos! My name is Abby Carpenter and I could not be more excited to be a Style Guru on the forever windy campus of St. Olaf College this summer. I am going to be a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science with a concentration in Neuroscience. While beauty and fashion have always been some of my favorite things, my main love is volleyball (that explains my major a little more). I grew up in the gym and have loved the game ever since my first camp in second grade. Being a full time athlete has taught me how to adapt to the unique sense of style attached to and worn by both athletes and Fashionistas, and I canโ€™t wait to spend this summer checking out all sorts of style inspiration from all over!

The school year has come to a end, and the long awaited, relaxing and sun-filled summer is in full swing. Time to take a break from realityโ€ฆ. well at least until work starts up in a week, though I do plan on doing some major probing into the world of fashion while killing time at my desk job. With my first year of college behind me, Iโ€™m more than ready to fine tune my personal style this summer and take all of you with me on that journey.

Today Iโ€™m wearing a soft gray, oversized sweater by Free People. In addition, I wanted to throw in some fun accessories (going with silver rather than my go to gold pieces), something to make you take a second look, so I combined a Fossil watch, my studded cross-body bag from Frye, and some thin bracelets that add the perfect layered look. I added my ankle boots that are also by Free People; perfect to shake up the look during the transition months. I wanted to keep the cool tone throughout the whole outfit, so I decided to throw on a pair of dark gray jeggings to complete the look. The place that I like to add a pop of color is my lips. Iโ€™m a complete lip junkie and am always looking for ways to incorporate my favorite red lip. This outfit demonstrates so many of the things that I love about fashion: neutral colors, comfortable fabrics and bold lips.
