Hi there avid fashion followers! My name is Kathryn Reaven and I am currently a senior at Kent State University majoring in Fashion Merchandising and minoring in Marketing. This is my fourth semester with CollegeFashionista, meaning I’ve been with them for an entire year. Writing for CollegeFashionista is one of the most enjoyable things I’ve experienced in my college career.
When I first started writing for CollegeFashionista, I documented what my fellow friends wore in my itty-bitty hometown of Urbana, Ohio. I then proceeded to write on campus in Kent and documented what my colleagues wore on campus. During my time with CollegeFashionista, I have been an active member of Kent’s Fashion Student Organization, as well as on the public relations team for The Fashion School’s Annual Fashion Show. Although our show titled VISIONNAIRE has been over since late April, I’m still reeling over how amazing it was! My go-to style is usually a pair of skinny jeans, Vans and a graphic T-shirt, but this summer, I’m going to have to take chances and wear clothing that makes a statement.
This summer, I’m thrilled to say that I will be representing Kent State while interning in New York City. Coming from the number two ranked fashion school in the country, Kent State offers a study away program in various locations such as Paris, Hong Kong, Florence and New York. Luckily, I have the opportunity to take courses at Kent State’s New York City Studio as well as intern! Last time I wrote, I had the position of Communications Intern at Nanette Lepore, but sometimes, life changes and doesn’t go as planned. With that, I’m even more thrilled to share that I am now interning for New York City and Los Angeles-based fashion public relations firm, Krupp Group. At Krupp Group, I will be their Jewelry Department Intern, organizing press about clients and tracking samples to and from magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and ELLE. I’m so happy to be spending the summer in the city, able to participate in CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru and all the other activities CollegeFashionista has up their sleeve.
I aspire to work for a company in the fashion industry focusing on marketing, public relations and social media strategy. I’ve grown to love everything digital and connecting with people that have the same interests as me. Getting the chance to spend the summer in New York City and interning for Krupp group, I know that I’ll have just that. Looking forward to this summer with CollegeFashionista, stay tuned for everything in store!
