STYLE GURU BIO: Katie Lusa

Hey there, Fashionistas! My name is Katie Lusa and I’m an Arts Administration major with a concentration in the Performing Arts at Stonehill College.

Born and raised in New England, I hold strong to three core wardrobe staples: L.L.Bean Boots, Birkenstocks and anything black. Aside from those rules, my wardrobe is full of neutral colors, light layers, leggings and chunky cardigans. When picking an outfit, I usually keep my clothes clean cut and minimalistic and embellish them with a fun twist like bright red Dr Martens or statement bags. Last year, I dyed my hair bright turquoise and it’s still the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Patterns are a big part of my wardrobe because it’s a fun way to add variety to an outfit without necessarily adding more colors.

Being a part of the theatre community has taught me to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the color black. It has also taught me the importance of lint rollers. But in all seriousness, one of the best wardrobe decisions I have ever made was to fully embrace the timeless beauty of the color black. It adds an inherent edge to any ensemble and pulls an outfit together with minimal effort and maximum reward. This summer, I will be interning at a theater and I’ll have the chance to expand my repertoire of designing fresh outfits with minimal color choices. Challenge accepted.

My future goals include living in an artsy community, riding a Vespa to work and owning a pug. The specifics may be a bit hazy right now but I’m not worried. My wardrobe tends to reflect my life philosophy: no stress, we’ll all float on okay (thanks Modest Mouse!) Only good vibes, good times and good clothes.
